What to Expect When You Attend Safety 2021 in Austin

We are excited to come together in Austin for Safety 2021! Here is a checklist of the important things you’ll need to do to be prepared for the event:

Your Proof of Full COVID-19 Vaccination OR Negative Test Results Within 48 Hours of Arrival Is Required for Entry

The easiest and quickest way to provide your proof of full vaccination or negative COVID test results within 48 hours of arrival by using our partner app, Bindle. Bindle is an easy-to-use technology solution that protects your personal identity and health information while speeding the process of verifying your eligibility to enter the event.

Make sure you complete all steps within the Bindle app so you have the green Entry Pass, like this example:

To be considered fully vaccinated for COVID-19:

  • 2 weeks after your second dose in a two-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines; or

You must have this email and barcode to print your badge at the Austin Convention Center. We recommend taking a screen shot or bringing a printed copy just in case you have trouble pulling up the email on your phone when you arrive.

Face Coverings Are Mandatory at All Times Indoors

When in the convention center and hotel meeting rooms, throughout the event, you will need to wear your face covering, except when actively drinking and eating. If you've forgotten or misplaced yours, please find the nearest ASSP staff member and we will provide a disposable face covering for your use. You will see that our session speakers will present their content without their face covering. They will follow physical distancing protocols during their sessions.

Acceptable face covering guidelines:
  • Face coverings shall cover your nose, mouth and chin.
  • Avoid bandanas, gaiters, masks with exhalation valves or clear shield-like face masks.

Create Your Event Platform Account and Log In Ahead of the Conference

You’ll receive an email from our online event platform provider on September 9. The email will be from EventSupport@assp.org and the subject line will be: In-Person Attendee Invite to Safety 2021. You’ll be able to create your profile, build your schedule and plan each day of the conference all from your phone. You’ll also be able to chat for tech support, access the on-demand sessions and more. Watch the orientation video in the virtual lobby to get acquainted with all the areas of the event. All attendees, both online and in-person, will use the online event platform to navigate the event.

Attending the Conference

We have a great program in store for you — from high-energy keynotes to hot-topic plenary sessions to best-in-class concurrent sessions. A few tips on how to make the most of your conference experience:

  • Use the hand hygiene and sanitation stations available around the convention center.
  • Plan your schedule ahead of time using the mobile-friendly event platform.
  • Allow time for breaks, walking the expo floor, food and hydration.
  • Find additional guidance for volunteer leaders here.

Food and Beverage Options

It is also important to note that based on our analysis of how we can best provide a safe, healthy environment for attendees, we will not provide traditional conference lunches as part of the event. We are confident there will be plenty of safe food options available to attendees. The Austin Convention Center is conveniently located near a wide range of restaurants and a variety of food trucks and concession stands will be available so you will have plenty of safe food options while attending the conference. We are also adjusting the schedule to make sure you have adequate time for lunch each day. Refreshment breaks will be offered throughout the event, and locations will vary each day, but will include: the convention center (4th level), exhibit hall, and the 4th and 6th floor foyers at the Hilton Austin. Please remember, throughout the event, you will need to wear your face covering, except when actively drinking and eating.
